At Bob Harris Flying School

  • Unique location for pilots

BHFS combines unique opportunities for both learner pilots and aviation career professionals.

Located within the world-renowned scenic hotspot of far north Queensland, BHFS gives students access to the highest standards of flight training amid stunning aerial views of tropical rainforests, rivers, and coastal reefs.

The Innisfail airport provides further advantages for flying training. It has the relatively rare option of a cross runway, allowing greater flexibility for your flying training.

It is also ideal for night and instrument training procedures with four instrument approaches and the provision of runway lights. Plus, the airport is close to controlled airspace and other navigation aids, including an instrument landing system (ILS).

  • Customised flying training

As a regionally based and owner-operated flying school, BHFS provides students with the invaluable bonus of being trained in a setting dedicated to their individual needs.

Bob and Carole Harris work personally with each student to plan their training, study, and testing schedules to optimise their learning experience and advance their career in aviation.

BHFS prides itself on establishing enduring relationships with its students. Bob and Carole's interest in their students' success extends beyond their initial training to offer ongoing guidance on industry opportunities and training regulations.

This bond sees many established pilots make the effort to return to BHFS whenever they want to complete further training, endorsements, or testing requirements.

  • Get trained by a leader in the aviation industry

As the head of operations, Bob Harris has been training pilots at the school since 1979. He is a highly experienced pilot with many thousands of hours flying to his credit. Bob's motivating training ethos inspires students to fulfill their aviation ambitions.

Bob has dedicated his aviation career to providing professional pilot training to encourage more people to fly and succeed in the aviation industry.

As well as a highly regarded flying trainer, Bob is an experienced flight examiner under the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).

He conducts flight tests for most licences and ratings as well as proficiency checks for instrument and instructor ratings. Additionally, BHFS does training for RAAus certificates and conversion training.

  • Enhance your chances of success

To feel confident about investing in your aviation career, be sure to choose a reliable flying school dedicated to your success. If you want your flying training to be directly guided by an industry-recognised flying instructor committed to your personal and professional needs, check out BHFS flight training options and contact us today.

BHFS has recently expanded to include training through Recreational Aviation Australia (RAAus) due to their being a high demand for this type of training.  Combining RAAus and GA flying can be beneficial with regard to costing and licencing outcomes.
